Tom is a third-year dental student. His parents want him to pursue the same path that they took, but Tom hates it and does not want to be a dentist after he finishes school.

Gary’s Story and Advices

What will happen if Tom becomes a dentist is he will resent his parents the whole life. Gary is sure that he won’t become one. 

Gary suggests that for his last year in school, he will treat it differently than his previous years. Tom will be enjoying himself, like a vacation. He will study less and have more fun. And once he graduates, Tom will tell his parents that he will not take over their dental practice. His mom will cry and his parents will call him an idiot but he shouldn’t be a dentist because he hates it and it’ll be the worst decision of his life.
