Momo’s Question or Topic

Momo Shack is a restaurant based in Dallas, Texas. Their main crew consists of people who live in Nepal, Vietnam, and Mexico. They started as a pop-up brand of going direct to consumers and grew ever since then. Now that the pandemic is ongoing, Momo Shack Restaurant is trying to pivot its marketing approach by packaging their dumplings and pick-up orders with customers. Their question to Gary is that if he was the CEO of Momo Shack, what immediate tactical things should he focus on now, and the macro-level vision things he should focus in the next 5-10 years to make Momo Shack a nationwide brand.

Gary’s Story and Advices

The first one is deciding whether or not they should do franchising or if they want to own. And second, Gary has a new idea for them to execute. He suggests having a deconstructed dumpling box that then every Friday from 6 to 9 pm people would do live cooking along with the crew. So there is a way for them to build a brand that isn’t directly selling what they sell. But at the same time, it will take their brand to a national level instead of a local one.
