Margaret’s Question or Topic

Margaret is a 49-year-old mother of two boys. She runs a global marketing strategy agency. Her question is about her being a parent and on how to generate intrinsic motivation in extremely talented children and to use them in making positive change.

Gary’s Story and Advices

The current generation of parents is too passive around punishment and forcing kids to learn how to make money. So the proper way to do it is by suffocating terrible behavior.

The ways to get people to focus on kindness and caring is to punish when they’re deploying the opposite, and clapping and putting on a pedestal when they’re doing excellent behavior.

Gary also shared that when he was 12, his mom told him to buy his own stuff and that was tough because games were expensive then. He was reinforced as a child and that really put kindness on a pedestal.
