D’Onna is a University Student in Virginia taking Biomedical Science with a minor in Spanish. She recently acquired an internship in Colombia, but she finds it too expensive to do the work there. If Gary were in D’Onna’s position, what are the things that he would do to fund her endeavor in the shortest time possible?

Gary’s Story and Advices

Gary’s favorite thing to push people towards is to sell something. It’s been remarkable to him over the past few years to see people that have gotten into the flip culture. Anyone can sell, starting with the objects lying around their house that they don’t like anymore, and then going to Goodwill, garage sales, and thrift stores to flip these things that they don’t need or like. Another option would be buying bulk on eBay and selling them on Amazon. Nothing accelerates the creation of revenue better than when someone starts trying to ‘flip’ their stuff and then become good doing this and they realize that they were actually really good at flipping and selling.
Next is to add more on his back, grinding more by having another job while he’s in university. And lastly, go through all the variables and speak to every relative and play the borrowing game. There are not that many options. And they fall in the bucket list of making it for yourself.

And lastly, it’s taking a step back and saying, F*ck, even though this opportunity for this internship in Colombia is so remarkable, I am not in a place right now where I can afford it. So let me go next year to see whether it’s Colombia, Peru or whatever. This is just not the right timing even though I really want to. That’s okay because D’Onna is a young woman and sometimes, disappointments are the ignite to the other three things Gary mentioned.
