Chloe’s Question or Topic
Chloe runs a marketing agency and is thriving amidst the Coronavirus pandemic. Chloe is very interested in where did Gary acquire so much clarity. And she also wants to know Gary’s perspective of balancing between someone’s passion and business.
Gary’s Story and Advices
Gary would pursue both his passion and running his business. And he would be okay if he’s going all-in for 87% on the company and thirteen on the side hustle. Gary’s first love was Wine Library. It was his family business. But then he left and began building VaynerMedia. For seven years, he directed his attention to his company. Until one day, he missed wine commerce. So what he did is to invent WineText.
On Gary’s clarity:
Gary was very attracted to older people when he was young, where he would always hang out with grandpas and grandmas. He also thinks that his clarity comes from the lack of formal education. He didn’t conform to the school system, and so didn’t pay attention starting in third grade, that he was in his world. That simplicity has been a huge guiding light.
