Alex’s Question or Topic
Alex started TikTok about a year ago as a way to cope up with ADHD. Influenced by his siblings and friends, he started creating content but was not passionate about it until one comment changed his life and led him into the realization that he can help other people, too. As he publishes daily content on the platform, Alex found it hard to deal with hate comments, particularly among his former friends. He also struggles with his friends who are posting the same content but are getting more comments and followers.
Gary’s Story and Advices
With regard to Alex’s feelings towards hate comments on Tiktok, Gary told him that when people leave hate on the internet, it means that they’re hurting. That they are manifesting their pain through comments on social media. Instead of feeling hurt and being mad at them, he needs to show compassion and empathy to those people.
Gary also wants to let Alex know that for those friends who are getting better engagement on TikTok, he should be happy for them and never compare himself against them.
