Aiden is a junior high school student from Connecticut and he doesn’t want to go to college. Since he was young, his job experience range from being an umpire, raking yards, doing landscaping, and recently, he just started a virtual tour company for realtors. He asks Gary if it’s a good idea to earn money first before deciding whether or not he’ll go to college.
Gary’s Story and Advices
Gary has a unique stance about going to college. He thinks that it’s okay for some but a terrible idea for others. He really hates it for some people who know that it’s not for them, yet are still pushing it and therefore drowning themselves to debt. On the other hand, Gary loves college for people that need the degree to pursue their passion. For Gary, he thinks that it’s not one size fits all game, and is worried about the pressure of parents who think it’s the only way.
Gary likes Aiden’s idea of making money first before he makes the decision of whether or not he’ll go to college, especially if he keeps his finances down or just live with his parents. And if he has four other buddies who are young hustlers like him, he can also live with them. That can be an ideal environment for Aiden.
Gary also suggests that Aiden work for the person he wants to be like. Aiden should send an email or DM entrepreneurs who have successfully built their businesses from scratch. They should be successful people in the field that Aiden wants to pursue. He can offer to become their apprentice or be their admin assistant, get paid really low, or for nothing. For Gary, being someone’s assistant or apprentice is the fastest way to learn a lot.
