Jennifer’s Question or Topic

Jennifer had a challenging year last 2019; she had to move out of her home, traded her fancy BMW, moved back to her parents’ house, and haven’t paid her bills in a year. Before quarantine, she had three part-time jobs. With all hardships she went through, there was one thing she learned about helfself – she loves connecting with people. To embody this newfound interest, she wants to open a coffee shop where she could build a community. So Jennifer is on the show for a piece of advice.

Gary’s Story and Advices

Gary recommends debating on whether Jennifer should open a coffee shop because it’s a very competitive sector, and he sees a lot of people who want to connect with others who default into the coffee market. He advises to think of more unique options such as a grapefruit store because it has a better chance of standing out. Yes, there might be ten times more people that want coffee than grapefruit, but there are twelve coffee shops to divide that demand.

Gary wants Jennifer to play other ideas as a venue of creating the community she aspires such as having an arcade, a hand-curated bookstore, a juice, tea, or a soup store.
