Gary has spoken with a lot of people, and what he noticed is that there are a lot of nuances, insecurities, and judgment.
Many people want things too fast. They don’t love their company, they love money from a business to buy the properties they want. And that destroys them.
What happened to entrepreneurship over the last half-decade is that people think that’s where the money is, and so a lot of people go to it who don’t love it. Just like what he sees in VaynerSports, so many athletes don’t admire their sport. But they stick to it because it is the place where they can make the most money.
On dealing with insecurities:
Most individuals who possess candor don’t discern how to deliver it with sugar. And so tact plays a crucial role in it.
The reason why his show works is that he is coming from a place of compassion, love, empathy, and legacy, as opposed to most people when they give radical candor, who shoots it straight, they are coming from a selfish place.
