Brian sells POS software that helps restaurant owners make their businesses more efficient. Because of the pandemic, all the restaurants he’s working with are affected. So Brian asks Gary for some ideas on how can his clients (restaurants) get through this difficult time. Brian also asked Gary what he should as he can’t sell his software right now.

Gary’s Story and Advices

Gary has two suggestions for those who are in the restaurant industry. (1) They have to re-engineer their business model to be able to do local delivery. They have to build up awareness in marketing so that people choose their restaurant. They have to innovate either from a branding standpoint or an operational one. (2) Gary said that they should make use of the internet, create a lot of content, and tell stories. They should produce 50-100 videos of them showing every single dish they have on the menu and how to make them, tell stories about their restaurant, how they came up to be, etc. And for the restaurant owners that are introverts, Gary suggested using an employee to execute them.

On selling POS machines:

For Brian who can’t sell his software now, Gary said that he can make use of this downtime by making content for post-Corona about how important POS is. Or he can make videos about the value of POS and why he can’t sell his software right now or he can give tips on things that people could be doing for their business.
